An Assaulter Released at “The Pressure” of the State Government

 Previously police in the Dang district of Lumbini had arrested the Provincial State Health Minister Bimala Kumari Oli on the charge of assault. Police had taken the Minister under control and sent her to the District Administration Office for creating a disturbance and assaulting her boyfriend’s wife and daughter.

According to eyewitnesses, Minister Oli had entered her boyfriend Ekraj’s house and started beating her boyfriend’s wife and daughter shouting aggressively “Where is my Ekraj?” A team deployed from the Area Police Office, Tulsipur reached the incident site and took Oli under control.

But, the police sent her to Butwal on Tuesday night under the pressure from the provincial government.

“We cannot keep a sitting Minister in this way as the Provincial Assembly meeting is ongoing,” The District Police Office Chief Suresh Kaphle says, “We need to follow a set procedure for that. Hence, we have released her for now.” Kaphle, however, also stated that the police are critically looking into the complaint they received against Bimala Kumari Oli.
